In May 2012, the hubs, my dad, two of my very best friends, and myself, traveled to Havasupai, Arizona. This was one of the most incredible hikes I have ever been on. Havasupai is on an Indian reservation just outside the Grand Canyon. It's an oasis in the desert.

Here's my yelp review of our adventure.

Wow, what an amazing experience! My former roomie E invited us on this adventure and in May we put together a group.  The hike in to Havasupai is 10 miles and is completely worth it! The waterfalls are breathtaking and you feel transported to someplace exotic!

The night before our hike we stayed in Flagstaff, woke up at 2am the next day and drove the rest of the way to the trailhead. The hike took us about 5 hours and we were exhausted! Definitely recommend starting realllly early so that it's not too hot, before 6am would be ideal. On our hike out we started around 4am to beat the heat, I'm not a fan of the Arizona heat lol. We set up a cute campsite and camped out for the next two nights in our little tents. We were near a fresh spring so getting water was really convenient. The campgrounds have picnic tables and bathrooms as well.

Reservations for camping open February 1st and they fill up fast! We made our reservations the second week it opened and were unable to get the weekend of our choice but luckily another weekend still worked for us. I definitely recommend hiking in April or May. The temperature was in the high 80s and mid 90s while we were there and it was HOT! We also reserved a mule to carry some of our gear which was really helpful, we packed A LOT of food, we ended up giving anything we didn't use to our fellow campers.

I'm so glad we hiked this, we have so many fond memories of it. I would do it again in a heartbeat
